Over the years I have been a fan of Rand Paul. His very sensical view of what is happening in our current government is refreshing. He says some things that make some folks uncomfortable.
Recently he has put himself inline with my what the F**K are you doing!! He chairs the spending subcommittee of the Senate’s chief investigative and oversight committee. His end of year overspending tweet to the tune of $230 million shows how much our elected officials miss or don’t care about. The President, sends his budget proposal to the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. The funding levels for all federal departments, bureaus, offices, programs, independent agencies, discretionary grants, etc. is determined by the annual budget resolution. Why come out with an end of year overspending video when as a member of Congress you have to sign off on the budget resolution to begin with!! Do you not look at the resolution, don’t care? Why is there an overspending committee if you send it out at the end of the year? Shouldn’t this committee look at this before the President signs it?
We didn’t hear from the United States House Committee on Oversight and Reform on this issue. Maybe the reason we did not hear from them is the fact that this specific committee has twelve other potential “oversights” to look at? Wait, with 435 members no representative is involved with no more than two committees. Shouldn’t the oversight committee be more on the ball? Where is the concern for taxpayer money? It seems there is none!
Here is my take. I have worked with a budget most of my adult life in business. You know going in how much money you have to spend in the beginning. You have fixed spending during the year that does not change. This seems to me as what the Federal Government has to deal with. In this case how can you create a budget, sign off on the budget and at the end of the year tell me where we wasted $230 million!! You come off as uncaring to the job you were elected to do! Do you apply the same principles to your own money? How irresponsible considering that all the tax money came from the citizens of this country! We definitely need some folks in Congress that don’t want to lead from behind!!
